Why a Cactus?
When people first see the Se Puede logo, the first question I inevitably receive is, "Why a Cactus?" I love Cacti, not only because they bring Latin American culture to mind or because of the history of the nopal cactus and its significance in Indigenous culture and communities but also because I believe they parallel the immigrant experience. Cacti are the epitome of blooming in scarcity. They learn to thrive in less-than-optimal conditions, and yet, they still flower. As a child of immigrants, I always joke that a cactus is like an immigrant child, learning to grow, defend, and bloom in spaces not necessarily designed to support them and figuring out how to navigate those spaces regardless. When it came time to create my logo, I knew there was no better representation of what I wanted to do through my work than a cactus. While I played around with various iterations and designs, I ultimately landed on this one because I wanted to highlight the way our work has a ripple effect, and while we all might start as one if we do it right, our work grows to be about more than just us.
Se Puede Consulting is rooted in a community-centric approach to programming. Through a holistic blend of need assessments and strategic planning, I work alongside leaders and organizations to determine their pain points and identify the resources available to build holistic and responsive programming for the communities they serve. No two programs or organizations are alike, and I want to understand what is driving the work forward and the gaps between the intent and the impact.

A fresh take
As a first-generation American and child of immigrants, I know firsthand how hard it is to navigate programs meant to support you that lack the infrastructure actually to do so. My career is rooted in education and services, and I’m particularly passionate about ensuring that access to support is holistically developed and community-centric.
